How the DeKalb County source map works
Illinois arrest information can be spread across several systems, and each system answers a different question. The DeKalb County Sheriff creates county jail booking records and photographs when a person is accepted into county detention. The Sheriff’s current public pages reviewed for this site do not expose a public live county inmate roster or recent-bookings feed, so current custody questions belong with Illinois VINE/VINELink or the jail and Sheriff contact routes. City police portals and logs describe agency events, not a county-wide custody list.
The home page explains those boundaries and the records-request path. The Circuit Clerk holds court-facing case information, while the Illinois Department of Corrections provides a separate state-custody search for people represented in IDOC records. A narrow FOIA request can be used when a responsive county booking record or photograph is not available through a public page. No page on this site rehosts a photograph or turns separate sources into a gallery.
What you will find here
Each part of the site has a defined source job rather than presenting one blended list of faces or names.
- The home page combines the county custody check, city arrest-event routes, booking-record request steps, VINE guidance, court context, and the law around correcting or clearing eligible records.
- The DeKalb, Sycamore, and Sandwich pages keep each police source separate. DeKalb has a Police-to-Citizen portal, Sycamore has records, FOIA, and media releases, and Sandwich has an offense log with a DeKalb and Kendall County boundary.
- Most Wanted Fugitives explains official warrant verification and the Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers route, while Crime News places selective local reporting after official sources.
- The source map distinguishes an IDOC state individual-in-custody profile from a DeKalb County booking, and it identifies the separate federal BOP and immigration ICE locator routes when county systems are not the right match.
What this site cannot do
DeKalb County Busted Mugshots is privately operated. It is not connected with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, a city police department, a jail, the Illinois Department of Corrections, or any other government agency. It does not hold official records or make custody decisions.
- It cannot release, hold, transfer, or locate a person in custody.
- It cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send money for someone else.
- It cannot give legal advice or decide what a court record means.
- It cannot promise that an office phone number, fee, address, roster entry, or online result is current.
Only the office that controls the record can confirm current custody, release, charges, or a disposition. An arrest or booking photograph is an accusation record, not proof of guilt, and charges may later be reduced, dismissed, acquitted, sealed, or otherwise resolved.
Search partners
Some pages include search boxes supplied by third-party providers. Those providers set their own prices, terms, and results. If a tool sends a visitor to a paid signup, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the site. That relationship does not give this site control over a partner’s pricing, data handling, or search results.
